USING MANY OF THESE SAME SCRIPTURE QUOTES

1. Seven Joys of Mary in the Franciscan Crown: Simply  substitute the Adoration of the Magi in place of the Presentation from the 4th Mystery  of the Domincan Joyful Mysteries  (see page 2 below for the full 10 Scripture quotes) and add the Resurrection as well as the combined Assumption/Coronation as the 6th and 7th Mysteries to complete the Crown.

2. Seven Sorrows of Mary: Prophecy of Simeon, Flight into Egypt, Loss of the Boy Jesus in the Temple, Meeting of Jesus and Mary on the Way of the Cross, the Crucifixion and Death of Jesus, Taking Down the Body of Jesus from the Cross, and finally the Buriel of Jesus.

3. Divine Mercy Chaplet: Go to the Five Sorrowful  Mysteries of the Dominican Rosary and reflect on a different Scripture quote before praying each:  "For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world."

MAY WE, LIKE MARY, PONDER IN OUR HEARTS THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS IN HOLY SCRIPTURE!

CORRECT SUBSTITUTION

 FOR THE FRANCISCAN CROWN

FOURTH JOYFUL MYSTERY

ADORARATION OF THE MAGI

In place of the Presentation in the Joyful Mysteries of the Dominican Rosary, Franciscans substitute the Adoration of the Magi in the Franciscan Crown. Therefore, after each Hail Mary, one should reflect upon one of the following scripture verses, which are taken from the Gospel of Saint Matthew, Chapter 2, verses 1 through 15:

1. Behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying: "Where is He who is born king of the Jews? We have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him."

2. ...Herod the king...assembling the priests and scribes...inquired where the Christ was to be born.

3. They told him: "In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet:'from you shall come a ruler  who will govern my people Israel'. "

4. "Go and...bring me word." And behold the star...went before them until it came to rest over the place where the Child was.

5. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.

6. They saw the Child with Mary His mother and falling down they worshiped Him.

7. They offered Him gifts: gold, frankencense and myrrh.

8. Being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their country by another way.

9. Behold an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said: "Rise, take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt...."

10.This was to fulfil what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: "Out of Egypt have I called My Son."
